UNLOCKING THE POTENTIAL OF THE MICROBIOME

I am a proponent of the power of creativity and collaboration.
As someone who grew up around music and various other art forms, I am a proponent of the power of creativity and collaboration. Whether it be at work, at home, or at school, problems are something we all deal with in our lives. Approaching a problem with a creative and collaborative solution has the capacity to not only correct but also allow for the discovery of new and effective practices. Whether it be in a music studio, classroom, or working at Gemelli, I have been very fortunate to have been able to work with others in creative spaces. As someone who is younger and still learning, I could not be more excited to be a part of an organization that places importance on the power of collaboration and innovation.
I am currently studying business management and operations at the Boston University Questrom School of Business. When I am not studying or working at Gemelli, I can usually be found on a basketball court, in a music studio, or looking for new sneaker stores.

I believe that no matter what job you are doing, you should always do it to the best of your ability.
I’m an aspiring marketer just starting out in the biotech field. I’m an undergraduate student at Boston University Questrom School of Business studying marketing and health and life sciences. I believe that no matter what job you are doing, you should always do it to the best of your ability. When I’m not working or studying, I’m rocking out behind the drums in a band with my childhood friends.
OUR VISION
to achieve a thriving global family of healthy individuals by unlocking the potential of the microbiome, using innovative and evidence based science
to support the discovery of novel diagnostics and therapeutics for the human microbiome by bringing biotechnology innovations to market in a fiscally responsible and socially conscious way

Being a clinician scientist for more than 20 years has been an amazing journey. The operative words are "clinician" and "scientist" which means that the research centers on the patient and their needs. When you know and see the benefits and failures of therapies from the perspective of the patient, it changes everything. I feel blessed to have been given the insights into new treatments that have already been of great benefit to patients. But the key to the future of unlocking many human diseases is the microbiome (that group of bacteria and other organisms) in the digestive tract. I think we can apply a patient centered approach to this new area of discovery and get these to patients more rapidly.

I have learned never to underestimate the healing power of kindness and positivity.
I became a physician a long time ago with the idealism of youth and the hope of helping people. My field of specialty is diabetes and metabolism- areas that touch literally every human on the planet- either directly or indirectly. As a physician, I have been blessed with the opportunity to reach many, and hopefully make a difference in their lives. I have heard many stories and shared many journeys- and learned an awful lot from my patients along the way. As a researcher, I am excited to be a part of this innovative microbiome based company that allows us to bring medical discoveries to patients, while moving in a direction that I know will be both rewarding and enlightening. As a human being, I continue my own journey, and realize that while medicine is one way to help my global family, there are many other ways left for me to explore. As a mother, I have learned never to underestimate the healing power of kindness and positivity.

The key to any successful business or a venture is creating value. Whether that value is emotional, social, physical or monetary the end user has to benefit.
The key to any successful business or a venture is creating value. Whether that value is emotional, social, physical or monetary the end user has to benefit. In my career as a physician the same principal stands true, the patient has to ultimately get better and feel better. I am a Gastroenterologist focusing on diseases in pancreas and bile ducts, and also involved in digital health with special emphasis in patient focused health education. My other passions include building technologies and enabling entrepreneurs in healthcare to identify the right opportunities.
Along with my medical education, I received my MBA from Kellogg School of Management. I serve on the board of Inner-City Arts, a non-profit based in Los Angeles, whose mission is to engage inner city kids in the creative process, as I do believe creativity is the new currency.
